Laval

Laval is a city in Quebec located in the suburbs of Montreal. It also constitutes one of the seventeen administrative regions of this province, in addition to possessing the powers assigned to regional county municipalities (MRC). With its population of 438,366 and 446,369 inhabitants during the last census in 2021, Laval is the third most populous city in Quebec, behind Montreal and Quebec, as well as the thirteenth in Canada. Its area is 246.8 km2.

If the majority of the city's territory is made up of Île Jésus, Laval also includes a multitude of small islands around it, which are part of the Hochelaga archipelago.

The Mille Îles River, to the north and west, separates it from the municipalities of the North Shore of Montreal, in the Laurentides and Lanaudière regions, and the Des Prairies River, to the south and east, delimits its border with Montreal.
